The finale of Netflix's Behind Her Eyes is the most bizarre twist ending we've seen in a long time. The show’s six-episode season tells a good story, and successfully entangles viewers in its quilt of lies (while faithfully following author Sarah Pinborough’s source material). But that ending comes out of nowhere, and lands like a sci-fi sucker punch to the gut.

If there were another season, I would watch out of sheer curiosity just to see where showrunners can possibly take the story once we know that (spoiler!) Adele was really Rob, and that Rob’s soul has now hijacked Louise’s body and married David again. There are plenty of unanswered questions and character details left out of the narrative in Season One, and it could be satisfying to see some of those answers come to light in a new season. No matter which new direction the show may take, here is everything we know about Season Two of Behind Her Eyes.
Has Behind Her Eyes Been Renewed for a Season Two?
Netflix released Behind Her Eyes as a limited series, which means it was originally intended to be a standalone season. Given the show’s popularity, however—as of Feb. 23 it is No. 2 on Netflix’s Top 10 U.S. streaming chart—it is possible that Netflix will order a new season of the thriller. As seen with recent Netflix smash hits like Bridgerton and Fate: The Winx Saga, the streaming giant powers that be usually wait a month or so before moving forward with series renewals, even for shows that generate as much buzz as Behind Her Eyes has. Check back here for all the updates on season renewal news for Behind Her Eyes.
Is There a Second Behind Her Eyes novel?
Author Sarah Pinborough has not written a follow-up to her 2017 novel on which the Netflix series is based. When asked if there would be another season of Behind Her Eyes, Pinborough told Express.co.uk, “Not as far as I know.” She added, “I would be interested to see where they would take it as it's a pretty closed ending… But if it does well, you never know.”
This suggests that if showrunner Steve Lightfoot and the team at Netflix wanted to make a second season, Pinborough would not be involved in the writing process. It would be entirely new material—the possibilities of which are endless, and would likely surprise anyone, even those who read the original novel.

What Would Season Two Be About?
If Netflix does indeed make a new season, the show could continue to tell David, Adele, Rob, and Louise’s stories. We could flash back and fill in the holes in their backgrounds—like who was David when he was young? Was he really just coincidentally nearby when the fire broke out at Adele’s estate, or is there more to it? Will David realize that Louise is actually Rob? Will David try to prescribe antipsychotics for Louise/Rob? Do antipsychotics even work on the soul, or just the body?
Will Louise’s ex-husband realize that she’s not who she once was (literally), and rescue their sweet son Adam from this imposter? It would be painful to watch Louise/Rob harm Adam, when the emotional heart of Season One was their loving relationship, but it is definitely a direction the show could take.
The show could also go the anthology-route, American Horror Story style, and follow a new cast of characters that overlap with the original in various ways (mainly the ability to astral project and control one's dreams by lucid dreaming). This might be the best way to keep audiences interested without overusing the Season One storyline. But it's going to take a lot to keep viewers surprised after that ending.
