Everything We Know About Jordan Peele's Fourth Movie So Far

When Jordan Peele released Get Out in 2017, we suspected he’d become one of the greatest auteurs of our time. His follow-ups, Us and Nope, further proved his horror and sci-fi chops, with each project delivering sobering social commentaries—and the occasional laugh. (We still miss you, Key & Peele.) Now, Peele is gearing up for his next project: a mysterious, unnamed movie which he says might be his best yet.

Peele recently appeared on the podcast Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend, where he spoke about his new film. The project, which Universal Pictures originally planned to drop on December 25 2024, was stalled due to the SAG-AFTRA Strike. “This has been… obviously it’s been an interesting year because the writer's strike had me in a state of listening, and that’s where I needed to be,” Peele said. “I do feel like my next project is clear to me, and I’m psyched that I have another film that, you know, could be my favorite movie if I make it right.”

So, what’s the movie about? Peele isn’t ready to disclose any details, but he's given a few cryptic teases so far. During the red carpet for Nope, Variety asked Peele about the inspiration for his next project. “I always have something I’m working on that I’m trying to figure out,” he said. “As time goes by, the world gives me awfulness to interpret.”

Not to get too ahead of ourselves, but the 44-year-old director is even looking past his fourth film. After the premiere of Get Out—which earned $255 million at the box office and four Oscar nominations—Peele confirmed that he had four social thrillers in the works. So far, two have been made, and in 2022, Peele told the Associated Press that he wanted to make even more films. “I feel like I’m off to the races,” Peele said, after releasing Nope. "I just don’t know if I could limit how many films I have that are me. I’m starting to lose sight of what I would be doing if I wasn’t doing movies like this. So, I would say the project has extended."

While we wait for his next masterpiece (I have high hopes, OK?) Peele is veering into a new medium: video games. Last year, we learned learned that Peele would team up with gaming legend Hideo Kojima for a new project called OD. Kojima says it's an “immersive and totally new style of game,” exploring what could happen if you “OD on fear.” Given Peele’s history with horror, it sounds like he’s the right man for the job.
