Five Things We Learned in Bill Simmons' Reddit AMA This Weekend

After parting ways with ESPN and signing a deal with HBO earlier this year, writer and Grantland founder Bill Simmons has returned this month with a new version of his podcast. Because Simmons apparently has nothing better to do on a Saturday morning, he took to Reddit to answer some fans' questions. He talked about the upcoming NBA season, dildos, the future of his writing, all teasing his secret new gig at the pay-cable network.

On where and when and if he'll be writing again:

Appreciate that - not sure when my column will come back, and what it will look like. Did it for 18 straight years and was starting to feel like I couldn't win with it anymore. Which is a weird place to be. But I also know that I am gonna wake up one day and be like, "OK! Time to write something!" I'm just not there yet. Was definitely burned out in a lot of different ways... the sabbatical helped, no question.

On who will be the first big trade of the NBA season:

I think Houston has one big December/January move in them... and I don't think Carmelo makes it to February... and I think Boston has a 4-for-1 trade in them. But I don't know what comes first.

On some cool things he'll do with HBO:

I'm definitely going to be involved in some HBO documentaries - was one of the reasons I wanted to be there.

On how Kobe's career will end:

My gut feeling is that this year will go terribly, and then he'll go overseas for a year or two years and make a kajillion dollars while also producing a documentary series about the experience...

On things he'll sell:

Q: "Bill, are there any products you wouldn't shill for? Where do you draw the line?"
A: "Dildos and vibrators."

Fair enough.
