On Trouble...

"At a certain point, the road kind of takes you over. When you live with this many guys for this many years, you just kind of take on some elements of trouble-making in whatever you do. My bandmates never let me go too far, but I definitely knocked out the sweet country-girl thing a long time ago. Honestly, I don't think I ever really was a sweet-country girl. I think that was a misconception about me. I was always bad."

On Drugs...

"I took acid when I was 13 years old. All of the kids' parents back in Vermont were like, 'Don't go over to that Gracie Potter's house. She's trouble.' But there aren't too many too many drugs anymore. Every once in awhile. I was just in Oklahoma City working on a song with Wayne Coyne from the Flaming Lips and he was like, 'Grace, don't make me do acid.' He thought I was this acid-gobbling superfreak. Meanwhile, he's Wayne Coyne of the Flaming Lips! I probably spend more time joking about drugs than actually doing them, but I still am vibing my occasional mushroom tea."

"There's all this S&M that you see the cute pop divas wearing. It doesn't work in real life. You can't wear that shit, man. It does not fit! Things are going to fall out. Things are going to be strange. I'd rather not be bound on stage. Although the one exception I always make is shoes. I love a great pair of shoes, and as long as I feel like I can walk in them, I can dance in them."

On Blindness...

"There's nothing less sexy than a girl falling over on stage. I have fallen once, but it had nothing to do with my shoes. I'm legally blind, so I fell over a monitor because the stage was black and I had no depth perception. Mortifying. But sometimes it's good to just walk the world in a bit of a blur."

"Two pairs. Sometimes three. I don't want to be overly protective, but there is this 'upskirt' phenomenon — creepers in the front row, whole websites, and I get letters. So now I have to have three pairs of crazy, belted, get-all-the-way-up-there-and-strap-a-proton-pack-to-your-body kind of a thing."

On the Morning After...

"I like to stay in bed for as long as possible. My morning, I'll put on some music and that usually kind of jostles me out of bed slowly. Then I like to take a bath. That's my big move. If someone is in the room, they can fking wait. I'll be in a better mood after a bath anyways. Or they can jump in the bath with me."

"I do think that being a workaholic is an addiction just like anything else.
