Meet the Man Who Killed Jim Morrison

"I didn't kill Jim Morrison. But I know who did," says Marianne Faithfull. Some 43 years after The Doors' frontman's death, Faithfull revealed in an interview with Mojo magazine that she blames her then-boyfriend, who's now dead, Jean de Breteuil, for killing Morrison. She explains that Breteuil, the so-called "heroin dealer to the stars" at the time, paid Morrison a visit in Paris on that fateful July day in 1971, delivering him the drug that ultimately caused his fatal overdose. She is quick to say that it was not intentional, though: "I mean I'm sure it was an accident. Poor bastard," she says. "The smack was too strong? Yeah. And he died."

So why is Faithfull coming forward with this information now? She tells Mojo that she was deeply affected by an interview question some years back. A reporter asked her, "Why exactly did you kill Jim Morrison?"

"I decided to take it very seriously," Faithfull says. "Everybody connected to the death of this poor guy is dead now. Except me."

Of course, selling someone drugs isn't exactly "killing" them, but at least Morrison fans will get a little closure out of this.
